The protagonist is a kid who is not particularly good at anything. He can’t run fast; he’s poor at solving math problems; and he’s even a slow-eater. It is an era of competition where individuals are subjected to compete with one another. However, this kid has no will to take part in any sort of competition. What he does like is the diving board that allows everyone to jump in the water in just three seconds. This book helps to appreciate the values that often get lost amidst fierce competition.
